Summer Camp
Mediums
Charcoal Drawing
Charcoal is a classical art material. It can be used for quick studies as well as developed finished artwork. The wide, sweeping marks made by a charcoal stick are very satisfying. There is a lot of push and pull developing the highlights in the shadows of the subject matter. A simple material that is wonderful for drawing outside.
Acrylic Painting
Acrylic paint is a creamy, quick-drying medium that allows students to layer subject matter creating a composition that expresses depth. Students learn and practice the transferable skill of color mixing. They also consider the relationship between the brush size and stroke. This medium is used for representational as well as expressionistic art.
Sculpture
With sculpture, a student begins with a flat material like paper, clay, plaster, cardboard, or wood and assembles it with an awareness that it will be seen from all three sides. Students marvel at the solidness, usefulness, and the mere existence of it - that they created it!
*This is not a comprehensive list of mediums taught, rather examples of projects from the past.
Be Happy.
Different things make different people happy. For some, that can be making beautiful art.
Interested?
I have been an art teacher over the summer for the past 13 years teaching varying levels of art to different age groups. If you’re interested in having art at your camp reach out and let’s see what we can make happen.
